About Me
“Architecture is the thoughtful making of space.”- Louis Kahn
Nuzrat Gyamah-Poku is how I call myself. I pursed my Bachelor of Science and Masters degrees in Architecture at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. I later did a short course in project management at GIMPA and went on to write my PMP exams, which I passed. I am married to Arc. Augustine L. Owusu-Ansah. We have been blessed with two lovely boys.
I worked at Ebenebe, Nigeria, on the Anam New City Project, as an Architecture intern during my post graduate vacations.
I am currently the Senior Manager- Construction at Spektra Global Ltd, a design and build firm in Tema, Ghana. I coorninate and manage construction projects from interior to exterior spaces. My job involves making sure project are completed within schedule, time, quality and customer satisfaction is achieved. My team in Spektra comprises of quantity surveyors, project managers, procurement officers, site supervisors and site engineers
I enjoy watching architecture videos and how things are built. One blog I enjoy most is Life of an Architect by Bob Borson. Bob talks about architecture and whats like to be an architect. My aim is for this blog to be like Bob's, educating people about the life of an architect/ project manager as well as the design and build industry in Ghana.
I perceive myself more as a Project Manager than an Architect. What makes architecture unique to me- is when the architecture conforms to its own, immediate and extended surroundings. No wonder I describe Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water as my favorite building.
