Eiii, another raining season. I'm wondering how many homes and houses are going to collapse? How many people are going to be left homeless after the rains? How many blocked and assumed dead rivers and streams are going to resurrect and surprise Ghanaians? How many roads are going to lose their coal tarred surface? How many bridges are going to collapse? By the way, how much will NADMO's expenditure increase after this year’s rains?

Finally, though it saddens my heart to ask this, but, how many people are going to lose their lives after this year’s raining season?

Election is coming and what we hear on our radios and televisions nowadays are political issues. Less is being said about the country's preparations toward the rains.
Though the raining season is vital, current human needs and activities as well as bad application of technology have made it an unwelcomed guest in some parts of the country. Some people in this country due to their anticipated loses after the rains start wailing when it gets to the raining season.

But who is to be blamed for this..... Is it the MP who pockets the money meant for proper drains and gutters in their communities? Or the contractor who in his quest to become rich overnight buys cheap and inferior products for storm water drains and gutters? Or the unwise chief who sells lands in water ways to desperate future house owners? Or your next door neighbour who refuses to clean her gutter but will rather blame the government when her drains get choked? Is it the engineer who due to poor research did not calculate the proper size and anticipated capacity for drains? Can it be the unpredictable nature of the climate with its changing issues?

WAIT! May be it’s you? Remember the numerous times you sat in the 'trotro' (mini bus) and threw pure water sachet and other plastic and rubber items into the gutter thinking it's the sole responsibility of ZL to keep the country clean.

Whether we will be happy or sad during and after the rains depends on what we do before, during and after it. We should all come together to make sure that all the rain water are channelled to proper places with less or no destructions.
