E-WORLD/ GHANA?

I find it really worrying whenever people attribute the country's low level of technological advancement to the lack or inadequacy of e-devices and gadgets (phones, tablet, computers etc. Coming to think of it, the number of Ghanaians who have the smartest of phones keep increasing each day.

When you had your new or first smart phone, computer or tablet, what was the first thing that came into your head?

Most people ignore the fact that majority of our upper primary and JHS students now have phones. But what do they use them for? While the 8 year old Chinese boy is saving to purchase a phone in order to practice reverse engineering, the 16 year old Ghanaian boy is looking for the smartest of phone that has good audio in order to appreciate latest hip life songs.

What was the first application or software that came into your head when you first switched on your first e-device?

Majority of Ghanaian do not use the right software and applications that will improve their lives or their field of business. Some people have the smartest of phones and the most sophisticated tablets but still end up in bank cues. Some of our doctors still move to their back room to research a symptom in a 1888 published medical book while they have a tablet sitting on their desks.

E-Ghana?

What is e-Ghana when majority of our tertiary students who are being supplied with laptops, tablets etc still write their reports? What is e-Ghana when your department secretary will rather use the departments computer to play Zuma, and tell you to rewrite a 1969 hand written course outline upon your request for a copy of the course outline?

I think in order for the country to advance technologically, we have to look at how we use the few e- devices we have in this country.
